Back to serious blogging!!!!!!!!!
I feel like I have been a bad-bad blogger. So I will continue on to do this everyday. so that I can have a journal. I really did enjoy the trip back east. It changed alot of my thinking about things. I am so happy that we were blessed enough to be able to go. Dad is a great planner, I must admit. I am going to write a little tonight and then I am going to try to remember all the neat things that we were able to do on our trip. First, this has been a semi-sweet week, it started out with Aimee's birthday, and remembering all the joy that we had the day that she was born. It was such fun to have her, I remember that they whisked her away before I could get a good look at her and I kept asking if she was alright. I was so afraid that she wasn't, but the doctor said "are you hard of hearing? The door is closed and we can still hear her screaming" That was the most wonderful sound that I had ever heard, was her cries for the first time. We had truly and at last been blessed with a little Aimee. I love you Aimee so very much. On the 10th of August was my Dad's birthday, Rees J. Stephens, he was a very comforting Dad. I always felt safe when I was at home with him. and also growing up. I knew that he was always prepared for every situation. He and Mom helped me through a bad period of nightmared and bad dreams in my early teens. I knew that I could count on him. He prayed when I was born early that I would live and he promised in return that he and mom would bring me up in the Gospel to be a good daughter and later mother, I hope that he is proud of their results. I am. On the 12th of August, our little Christian was born. What a miracle happened in the Huntsville area that night, we had a BOY and no one could believe it, not even Dad and I. He was indeed a Jensen, He was named after his great-great-great grandfather who was the original Christian. He was a handsome and beautiful dark haired boy, even though he had a worried look on his face. He died on June19,2008, it really is hard to believe that this happened , but someone said this scripture that I think applies to him and his life...

I am trying to get my trip together in my mind to write each day down. First I want to thank Dad for providing such a wonderful trip that has changed my life.....also I want to thank Marissa and Spencer for the great help that they were to both
dad and me. I personally could not have enjoyed it half as much if I had all the items to carry and my blisters to worry about. I have some dandy ones. They were like angels to me, also Dad was a miracle of strength and comfort. I want you all to know that "Nauvoo is in each of you, and when you are there they are there" I will explain that one later. I love you all and encourage you to plan a visit to Nauvoo in the near future. It will humble you greatly. I love the Savior and want you to know that I am very thankful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Love, Mom

what we did each day on our tour

I want everyone to know that this tour changed my life. My testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith and the restoration of the Gospel was greatly strengthened. To see how the Saints were asked to give up nearly every thing in every place they lived malkes me want to live the law of consecration to a greater degree. Finally, mom and I want to serve a mission soon, if the Lord wants us to.
included is what we did each day.

Day 1: Today we will start our fantastic church history tour by flying to Rochester New York where we will overnight.

Day 2: Full day visiting all of the Church History sites in Palmyra. Including: The Joseph Smith Sr. home, the Sacred Grove, the Hill Cumorah, the Grandin Printing Complex (where the first Books of Mormon were printed) and the Peter Whitmer farm in Fayette (where the Church was organized). This evening you will enjoy the famous Hill Cumorah Pageant.

Day 3: This morning we will start our drive to Kirtland, Ohio. On our way to Kirtland enjoy the majestic Niagara Falls. There will be plenty of free time to enjoy the Falls and maybe even take a ride on the "Maid of the Mist" boat that takes you to the base of the Falls. We will spend the night in Kirtland.

Day 4: Today we have a full day visiting all of the important sites around Kirtland including: The Kirtland Temple, the Newel K. Whitney Store (School of the Prophets), the Morley Farm, the New LDS Visitor Center and more.

Day 5: This morning WE FLY to Independence, Missouri Area. The Saints went by wagon train. Other tours go by bus, but we are going by airplane. This afternoon we will visit Independence including the Independence Visitor Center and Temple Mount. There will also be time to visit the headquarters of the Community of Christ, formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the afternoon and evening of Day 5 and the morning of Day 6 we will visit: Independence, Far West, Liberty Jail, Adam-ondi-Ahman and more.

Day 6: We finish experiencing all of the sites started on Day 5. We then travel to Nauvoo, where we will have time to do an overview of the city before getting settled into your hotel.

Day 7: Today we have a full day in Nauvoo. You will have time for a Temple session in the new Nauvoo Temple, if available. You will have time to see many of the restored buildings of (Old Nauvoo) and Church History sites. You will also have time to walk the Trail of Hope, where the saints crossed the Mississippi to head west.

Day 8: Today we visit the Carthage Jail were the Prophet and his brother were martyred. This afternoon we travel to the airport for your flight home.
It was GREAT!

What can you say when you lose your first born son? I looked forward to my first boy after all my wonderful girls. Such a smart,handsome and spiritual young man from the very beginning. I am lucky enough to have two sons like that. I'll never forget the year when Christian wanted to go every where with me. On the tractor, in the truck, on the motorcycle, he'd even lay on top of me on the couch at night. I'd take a day of that anytime. He served an Honorable mission while in constant pain. He loved his country more than anything but his family. When I went to Oklahoma to see him graduate from basic training both of us were so proud of his accomplishment. He loved being a medic and was so good at it. He was a friend of the underdog. I miss him! I pray that each of us will be worthy to join Christian in the Celestial Kingdom. I thank the Savior for making this possible. The last thing I told him was that I loved him. Love, Dad

First , he would bring me flowers from the time he was little until he was older about twice a month to surprise me, he loved and enjoyed nature so much and the beauty that the Lord has placed on the earth, also he would, when I was upset about Dad feeling sick, he would always tell me , don't worry Mom, I will always take care of you, and he did, even his final few details that he did on this earth before he left us for a bit. Today it has been two years since I have seen Christian, it was father's day and he was here to eat and he was so sick that he asked Dad to give him a Priesthood blessing. Everytime I pass a mirror I can't believe that my hair is really mine! What a jolt. I have been thinking alot about Christian this week, on Saturday it will have been 2 years. What a long time, hard to believe but it even seems longer than that. I am so thankful for the gospel and it's teachings. We are all truly blessed to know that we, if we do our best will all be together again. That is the only thing that makes this all bareable. I hope that you all in your lives feel the same and I know that you are all doing such good works.I had the very cutest thing happen, Sam asked me the other day if he could or we could get him a book about the prophets. Today is Monday and kind of a hazy, lazy day. We heard that Aimee and Zach have sold their home. That makes me sad, because it means that it is true, they are moving. How could you????? Last night I hurried and got off the blog because Dad said that his heart was way out of whack and not one of you called or answered my blog!!!!!!Mean girls-mean girls!!! He is okay and his heart seems to be fine but a concerned call would have made Dad feel better. And this is not meant to be a guilt trip. Fun fact: Blood makes up about 7% of your body's weight. But in my case it is 50% I think. We will be up in Provo soon to have Spencer get his wisdom teeth pulled. How is the house selling coming Aimee? I guess that I was in such a great shock about K.L. amd S. that I forgot to blog. I think that he loves his camera better now anyway, and it doesn't require so much contention. The school which Spencer attends is going to have a Gay/straight Alliance club and the next thing I knew smoke was blowing out his ears!!!! He wrote to the newspaper in St. George and expressed his hearty disapproval and has gotten back many rude comments. I am glad that he has the courage to express his feelings to his school and others about his disgust with this wickedness. We wanted to participate in Arbor day, butwe decided a few days early, we found the coolest tree in our outings (walking) that looked like a soft Christmas tree, so Dad took a little piece of it and we took it to the Nursery and they told us what kind it was, and we got a huge one that was on sale. It is about 12 feet tall or so and we have it going to be planted in the back yard on the top corner by some other bushes. It looks so dang cool. I will send you a picture of it okay? I finally got a fantastic haircut at Great Clips, I'm not kidding at all, it is one of the cutest ones ever. Then I spent 3 or 4 hours shopping for the Prom dinner for Spencer and 5 friends, it was ever so much fun, but now I literally can't move. Today was smooth sailing on garbage day, not one fist fight!!!! I about decided to get my hair cut, but the appt. was too late, so this will give me some time to think about it some more. I had an X-ray taken at the hospital of my back and holy cow!!!! It looks like a tool box is in there----^ screws and a bunch of brackets or something that looks like that. As I have been walking through the neighborhood, I have met a few of the little kids. I met a little girl about 2 weeks ago and she was playing on the sidewalk and I asked her what her name was. she told me and Gary was with me. I guess she as alot of people do, think that he is my husband....huh....well today as I was walking she ran out into the road and said Hi Melanie, she said I read a book and a girl had a name Melody, but I knew that yours was Melanie, and she said that she had a present for me. a fluffy white ready to blow dandelion. She said that she like the white ones better than the yellow and gave it to me as a walking present. She told me that she had always wanted to go walking or running with someone and could she come with me sometimes, I told her that it would be fun to have a walking partner, but she needed to ask her Mom so I wrote her Mom a little note and when she wants to walk she can call me and I will walk with her. Isn't that cute, she is about 7 or 8 I think. I felt ancient. Well, I have to go and shave Spencer's neck. I will write more later. Love, Mom and Dad

I am so sad, the waffle iron bit the dust on Sunday during dinnertime. A great tragedy has happened, during dinner on Sunday, the great and trusty waffle irons top heating plate quit working and we were left with some very gross waffles. Gary ate his, but nobody else did. Gary must have been extremely hungry because he ate his hurridly gone, Spencer whined about and so did Dad. But Dad had a great solution, he bought a new waffle iron on Monday and now all our waffle iron problems will be gone. What a blessed relief for the Jensen's in Washington. We are so pleased. Cassie and her family came by for a few minutes this afternoon on the way back home from DisneyLand. They looked tired, but happy. Sounds like everybody is having a very wonderful April. Aimee's trip to St. George and the kids coming down for a fun trip with us. Lacey and her children seeing the Northern Lights, Ashlee being a Easter Hostess, Then Cassie and Chris selling their home and going to Disney Land. Natalie and Dustin having Henry and the new darling Finn. Christian watching over us all and keeping us close and loving each other, Marissa finishing her student teaching, running the SLC marathon, or should I say limping with all our prayers being able to run. and Spencer finishing up his Senior year in high school. Last night was so crazy, my legs were killing me and I couldn't get anybody to pretend to be me so I skipped a day. Today, has been better, except Spencer has been very sick all day with the figits, he didn't sleep a wink last night, and neither did we. So we are all paying for a bad night. Dad planted some more beautiful flowers yesterday, they will survive since he did the planting. We are coming up on Sunday for Elijah's big day and then staying at Grandma Stephens house until early Tuesday when I go to the doctor. i CAN'T believe that it is already Friday. Gary reminds me of this every week because it is garbage week on Friday. He and the garbage man have had quite a feud this past couple of weeks, the g-man said that Gary doesn't put the cans exactly the right distance apart, and this about blows Gary's mind, so we had to call the garbage guys company and tell him to lay off Gary. Gary was going to have a fist fight with him if he didn't leave him alone, because HE was doing his job right. It has caused quite a stir in the house. Aimee and the kids went home today. The kids, Aimee and Spencer went to Zions Park hiking today , from the looks on their faces, they had a good time. Aimee also dyed my grey locks of flowing hair, looks 100% better Dad commented. Marissa went up to the Northland to help Natalie, She was a good help to Dad and me while she was here, she needs to rest though, her leg is going to be a repeat of mine, I'm afraid. I don't know how we keep rating these beautiful days, it must be because Marissa, and Aimee and all her beautiful kids are down here. Also because Finn C. Hall was born. I feel so blessed. I can walk an hour a day now and sleep a very long time, and also take a shower by myself, I also have lots and lots of gray hair as the kids will tell you. I think if you had a gray off, I would win over Grandma Stephens, Depressing huh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tomorrow I think that I will have alot of helpers with my hair. Today was my first after coming home car-ride. We went to Cedar City to sign some papers and then we drove out to NewCastle...I thought that it was Enterprise. I am happy to now know what the name is. The land was sage-brush and on one side of us lives a very nice Mexican family, we are still trying to decide what to do. Also we went to the ER because I thought I had Mersa in part of my back, the DR. thought it didn't look like it , but gave me some Septra stuff for it. Then we had a nice 1 hour nap and did dinner etc. How is the moving business coming or going? Fact; Bic pens were originally to be named after Marcel Bich but marketers chaanged their minds and dropped the "h" when they thought about how the name might be pronounced in America!! I has been three weeks since I had the BACK slicing. I feel really pretty well most of the time. I know that I have been really blessed. Marissa, guess what Brother and Sister Buenning brought to me. One dozen rew/white roses. They are so beautiful. He is a puzzling man, but he has been so nice to me , also Sister B. Gary said that he had asked about me in church last week. I must be getting popular-haha. I love you all but one rule must be enforced:NO MOVING for at least 35 years okay. I think that that would work out great. I walked for 1/2 hour tonight which was a long one-timer. Sommeone brought us some good food tonight and we all enjoyed it very much, especially Gary. Well, Dad has Spring fever today. Someone brought me some mums last week and Dad has planted them today, then yesterday when we were at Harmons, we saw some beautiful pansies, and brought them home and planted them. So today when Dad was out and about he bought some moss roses and this afternoon we planted them in the big cement pot that Aimee and Zack gave us one year , they will look so pretty. We have a few more pots to plant and then that is IT! We also have the roses in the back yard. Here is kind of a garden -outside joke. It takes a skunk three weeks to crank out one ounce of foul odor!!!!! Today is our 36th anniversary. I can't really believe it. It seems so much shorter, than that . They have been good great years. Some hard times ,but mostly great ones. Gary and I walked all around our subdivision this afternoon, it really was fun. Gary told me that the garbage man yelled and cussed him out this morning for having placed the cans too close to each other, also he asked Gary who in the heck ate so much yogurt (hat was in the recycle can) like it was any of that guys business. Gary was quite upset as you can imagine. He said that he would like to bop him on the head for that, besides he said the cans were perfectly in line. That was a big trauma today. Dad called the city and told them the story and that apolized all over the place. Gary was then very happy!!!!!!!!!!!! We have some action in our neighborhood once in a while. Dad started a facebook for me today and then I got a phone call from Ashlee saying that she didn't know that I was a bi-sexual person, Dad soon edited the form for me. How embarassing. I wonder how I will do with the facebook. I love and appreciate all you have done for me and also dad. But please pray about those of you who are considering moving. I moved alot as a child, and the one thing I missed the most were my grandparents and especially my first cousins, that is something that you can never make up. Today has been a little different, Dad installed a security system in the house, it has all the bells and whistles. The doors, windows and motion detectors are all in place. It makes me feel so much safer. Remember the one in Huntsville. I don't think that we ever turned it on, or even knew how. This one is easy and faster to use. So don't try anything devious or tricky okay, you will be caught!!!!!! I went for two walks today, it seems to be getting easier each day. Dad and I walked around the whole subdivision together today, it felt so good, even though it was kind of cold. Spencer you are a good brother to help Aimee and her children. We are proud of you. I can get in and out of bed a little easier, so that is nice. Gary finally got his new Christmas teeth this week , he looks rather dashing. I looked in the mirror today.(don't I always) and thought I am looking rather old. I need Dan to touch me up in a photo or really real life. We love and miss you all so much. Love, Nona and Farmer

Dad and
gary did errands this morning , so I just switched sides in bed a few times while they weere gone. It is kind of a helpless feeling to just have a phone around you. I think if someone broke in here and saw me, they would quickly drop me and run. I took another walk tonight with Dad. It surely is quiet without Spencer here. We miss him. My steri-strips are starting to come off my back, I guess that means that I am getting better, which I am. I love you all. Maybe I can think of something innteresting to tell you tomorrow. I wasn't able to make the trip to church, I had Dad stay home with me so that if I needed help. he could help me. I walked down and around the street with dad. It was fun, just lightly sprinkling. Today was maybe a little easier. I walked about 3 blocks and I feel like I can sit up easier/ Heavenly Father is wonderful, I can not count how many times He has blessed me just this past 10 days. Are you okay Natalie? Love. Mom and Dad
